Eaton Mobile Tech Day Features Technology Innovations in New Energy Transportation

Date: 2016/3/25

Shanghai --- Power management company Eaton launched its 2016 Technology Day in China, a mobile truck show showcasing Eaton’s latest innovative technologies and solutions for new energy vehicles and manufacturing industry. The truck will visit more than 20 cities across the country, providing customers and partners along the way an up-close and personal opportunity to learn about Eaton products and discuss market trends.

As a global leader in power management, Eaton is focused on enhancing its presence in China in all business segments and on tapping into diverse opportunities it offers. The Tech Day event is aimed to solve customer challenges, and enable effective market interactions across the key customer segments all around the country.

“China is currently facing serious pollution and energy shortage in its progress of mass industrialization and urbanization. Increasing energy efficiency and utilizing new energy would be the way out, both of which we believe could only be achieved through innovative technologies. As a world’s leading power management company, Eaton provides our Chinese customers with a comprehensive portfolio of innovative solutions to answer China’s most critical environmental challenges,” said Joe-Tao, Zhou, president of Eaton in China.

One of the display highlights will be Eaton’s diverse solutions for new energy vehicles, including a 4-speed Automated Manual Electric Vehicle Transmission (AMT) for the large transit bus. It features a more energy-efficient gearbox compared with a traditional direct drive transmission, but with no compromise in launch acceleration.

Eaton introduced the first commercially available hybrid power system bus in China in 2007. So far, over 10,000 buses running in China’s 78 cities have been equipped with Eaton’s hybrid systems, logging 1 billion kilometers and saving 40% in fuel over non-hybrid systems. Other innovations include Eaton’s intelligent high-voltage power distribution products from the Bussmann series, making it easier to apply fusible overcurrent protection from control and lighting circuits to HVAC/R equipment and industrial machinery.

Another key focus of the event will be a range of manufacturing solutions. SmartWire-DT® is an innovative automation system terminal solution. It is viewed as the world’s smallest and most efficient IEC contactor that not only helps achieve a large reduction in switchgear size without sacrificing performance, but also improves the convenience of upgrades and replacements. Eaton’s AxisPro™ proportion valve will also be on display, which takes more flow, pressure and offers a higher degree of protection and that enables owners to reduce downtime and maintenance and increase operating hours by 10 percent.

Innovation has been a heritage of Eaton since its establishment more than 100 years ago. Since the year of 2000, more than US$ 6.1 billion has been invested on R&D globally, and in the year of 2015 only, the total investment on R&D has reached US$625 million. In addition, as a strategic pillar for Eaton’s global growth and investment, Eaton has put significant emphasis on innovation and localization of R&D capabilities in China market. In September 2010, Eaton established its China Innovation Center, one of Eaton’s six global innovation centers in the world. The center is focused on developing advanced technologies and solutions in various fields, with key focus on vehicle electrification and smart power grids.
