Eaton’s New PowerXL Series DG1 Drive Provides Optimum Energy Saving for General Purpose Industrial Applications

Date: February 27, 2014

SHANGHAI … Power management company Eaton today announced the launch of its new general purpose DG1 drives. The drives are part of Eaton’s next-generation PowerXL series of adjustable frequency drives specifically engineered for today’s more demanding commercial and industrial applications, including heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), water treatment, food processing and commercial buildings. With industry leading energy efficiency technology, high short-circuit current ratings and robust design, the DG1 offers customers increased safety and reliability with lower energy consumption.

"Finding ways to conserve energy is always a priority at Eaton and the DG1 provides optimum energy savings.” said Christopher Butler, vice president and general manager, Circuit Protection and Control Division, Asia Pacific, Eaton  “The power unit makes use of the most sophisticated semiconductor technology and a highly modular construction. With its launch, Eaton continues the heritage of product innovation that can be flexibly adapted to meet the customer’s needs."

With Eaton’s patented Active Energy Control technology, the new DG1 drives can actively adjust drive parameters to minimize energy losses in the working motors. This offers customers a 5-8 percent energy savings and a faster return on investment compared to other manufacturers’ products.

These drives continue Eaton’s tradition of robust performance by raising the bar on features and functionality, ensuring the best solution at the right price. The control module was designed to include today’s standard communication protocols and I / O, while still having the modularity to add more option cards. In addition, the liquid crystal display (LCD) front panel, startup wizard, PC tool software and built-in applications ensure ease of use, while the conformal coated boards can prevent damage in harsh and dirty environments.
