Eaton Holds Manufacturing OEM Mobile Tech Day across Ten Cities, Presenting Lean Solutions to China’s Mechanical Manufacturing Industry

Date: Oct.16, 2014

SHANGHAI …Power management company Eaton hosted Manufacturing OEM Mobile Tech Day themed “Building a better machine with Eaton integration”. The national event for the first time adopted a truck road show format to bring an exhibition tour of Eaton's integrated solutions to customers. The tour covered ten cities across China including Shanghai, Qingdao, Dalian, Shenyang, Tianjin, Baoding, Jinan, Jining, Shiyan and Huangshi. More than 1,000 experts in auto manufacturing, machinery, mining, automation and wind power joined Eaton to discuss solutions to tackle the challenges in China’s mechanical manufacturing industry.

“Eaton has long been committed to bringing world-leading power management technologies to China”, said Joe-Tao Zhou, President for Eaton in China. Our knowledge in local markets and technical know-how enables us to provide trend-leading solutions to our customers to tackle the challenges and seize opportunities in this fast developing market.”

SmartWire-DT™, an innovative automation system terminal solution, became the spotlight during the event. Integrated with switchgear, this solution allows for lean automation for a sensor’s remote smart control, cutting down engineering costs by 70 percent. By virtue of the “lean connectivity” in which complicated point-to-point wiring is replaced by a simple connection, SmartWire-DT leads to reduction of machine wiring, testing and commissioning up to 85 percent. In addition, lean power for energy conservation is realized through the maintenance, diagnosis, and energy-efficient operation. Together with two notable hydraulic products, Axis Pro and VFD (green pak), this product plays a vital role in Eaton’s new “Power of One” system solution.

In terms of Electrical solutions, Eaton highlighted brand-new E Line products, PowerXL Series DG1 Drive, and IZMX breaker. Comprised of a control relay, contactor, and overload relay, E-Line is viewed as the world’s smallest and highest efficiency IEC contactor. It helps achieve a large reduction in the cabinet size without sacrificing performance. DG1 Drive is part of Eaton’s next-generation PowerXL series of adjustable frequency drives. The control module is designed to include today’s standard communication protocols and Input/output while still having the modularity to add more option cards reducing the motor’s energy consumption to the maximum and saving an additional 5 to 8 percent of energy compared to other manufacturers’ products. Designed in a more compact size, Eaton’s new IZMX series air circuit breaker is equipped with PXR electronic release bench and general-purpose accessories bench of below 4000A, greatly facilitating on-spot upgrade and accessory replacement.

For Hydraulics solutions, Eaton exhibited a series of star products and systems, including AxisPro™ proportion valve, VSD (Variable Speed Drives) hydraulic system, LifeSense™ hydraulic hose and Hydrokraft® transmission piston pump. The Hydrokraft transmission piston pump powers the high-pressure application. Even if low-lubricating anti-combustion fluid is used, the product’s super-large bearings can work longer, helping reduce maintenance cost and running noise, meeting a production line’s control demands in an all-round manner, and making the production line run smoothly.

In addition to introducing the innovative products during Tech Day, Eaton convened over 30 professional seminars, sharing with production equipment manufacturers and industry counterparts the successful cases of Eaton Lean Solutions in such sectors as wind power, metallurgy, machine tool, and clean energy. These are some of the next opportunities in China’s mechanical manufacturing industry.
