Eaton recirculating chillers are precision liquid cooling systems that use vapor compression refrigeration to maintain exact process fluid temperatures from -80 °C to 200 °C, supporting extreme heat loads up to 50 kW across data center, laboratory, medical and industrial applications. Leverage Eaton chillers for a wide range of liquid cooling systems, including extreme temperature ranges or excessive heat loads. Our recirculating chillers are designed for flexibility by implementing a wide variety of performance-matched pumps, controllers and additional safety and monitoring features that enable you to tailor your chiller to your specific application.
Recirculating chillers are self-contained liquid cooling systems that circulate a process fluid through a refrigeration circuit to maintain precise temperatures, including below ambient, in a wide range of industrial, laboratory, medical, and data center applications. Chillers are a mechanical device used to cool fluids in a liquid cooling loop by removing heat from the fluid. Recirculating chillers leverage compression refrigeration to reach sub-ambient temperatures and maintain high temperature stability.
Recirculating chillers are used across a wide range of applications including data center liquid cooling, semiconductor fabrication and test, medical imaging equipment, laser and optical systems, battery test chambers and industrial process control. Their ability to maintain precise temperatures below ambient makes them the preferred choice wherever air cooling cannot maintain the required thermal stability.
Chillers leverage vapor compression refrigeration to cool. They have a compressor, condenser, evaporator and an expansion valve. The compressor pumps refrigerant gas into the condenser. Refrigerant releases heat in the condenser and converts into a high-pressure liquid. This liquid flows through the expansion valve, undergoing a pressure drop and becomes a low-pressure liquid. As the liquid enters the evaporator, it absorbs heat from the fluid being cooled, which causes the refrigerant to evaporate into a low-pressure gas. The cycle repeats as the gas returns to the compressor. On the process fluid side, coolant such as deionised water, ethylene glycol (EG), polyalphaolefin (PAO), or HFE is circulated from a reservoir through the evaporator, where it is chilled, and then out to the application. The fluid returns to the reservoir once it has absorbed heat from the device or process being cooled, completing the recirculating loop.
Eaton recirculating chillers accommodate customer requirements including:
With zero system leaks recorded across 30.6 billion field hours in the field, and standard chillers backed by a 2-year warranty, Eaton recirculating chillers are built for long-term reliability in demanding environments.
Maintain liquid coolant temperatures from -80 °C to 200 °C and cool high heat loads up to 50 kW with Eaton recirculating chillers designed to best fit your application requirements.
Recirculating chillers are designed for precise temperature control or cooling below ambient temperatures. Eaton chillers offer outstanding performance and high reliability with components performance-matched for quiet operation such as positive displacement pumps (PDPs), centrifugal pumps (CPs) or turbine pumps (TPs). Custom PID controllers and advanced refrigeration control circuits ensure that the chiller maintains ± 0.1 °C (0.2 °F) stability. Standard recirculating chillers are suited to laboratory equipment, industrial process cooling, and test and calibration systems where consistent sub-ambient temperature control is required without the extended range of low-temperature models.
Eaton is responsive to customer support needs ranging from spare parts fulfillment to system service and repair solutions. Globally available service operations and factory-certified technicians provide rapid, effective and affordable service to minimize system maintenance downtime.
Low-temperature recirculating chillers are designed to maintain process fluid temperature stability over a wide range of target coolant temperatures from -80° C to 90° C or 4° C to 200° C .Our low-temperature chillers are designed with either a magnetically coupled gear pump or a turbine pump and are installed with internal heaters to maintain temperatures above ambient. By using field tested and enduring components, low temperature recirculating chillers offer high reliability in the most demanding applications. Low-temperature recirculating chillers are used in semiconductor fabrication, cryogenic testing, pharmaceutical processing, cold climate simulation, and any application requiring stable sub-zero or extended-range temperature control.
High-capacity recirculating chillers are designed to cool high heat loads while still maintaining tightly controlled output temperatures. Our high-capacity chillers are designed with either centrifugal pumps for temperature control within 0.5° C or turbine pumps, which have a higher compressor capacity enabling the highest level of cooling of up to 50 kW. High-capacity recirculating chillers are suited to large-scale industrial process cooling, high-power laser systems, data center thermal management, and EV battery test chambers where heat loads exceed what standard or low-temperature models can manage.
